Google makes money by providing leading edge search technology. But it actually generates its revenue through Google AdWords. Everytime someone searches for a particular keyword or phase a list of ’sponsored links’ comes up in the right hand corner of the search results and often at the top of the organic searches. If you click on a ’sponsored link’ the advertiser is charged a small fee. This is call pay-per-click or PPC advertising. Google makes millions each year through this service and it’s a service that provides many opportunities for a website owner to get a slice of the action.
How You Make Money From Google
Google Adsense
There are two ways to make money from Google, one is virtually instantly and the other is indirectly. Google AdWords makes you money instantly and GoogleAdsense makes you money by improving traffic flow indirectly.
Through Google AdSense you make your money by putting stealth ads on your website.
Example of a Google AdSense on a website:
Those same ads that Google puts on the right hand side of their search results, can be put on your website too. The technology Google uses means that you will have ads that relate exactly to your page subject. So, your customers can click on Google ’sponsored links’ within your website.
So what does this mean for you?
This means you earn a percentage of each click made from those ad’s. That money is paid into your account, you benefit directly. Some people earn high five figure incomes through Google Adsense each month. So it can be worth putting these ads on your website once you’ve created it. It’s free and very easy to join Google AdSense. It can be set-up and loaded on your website in less then 10 minutes.

How To Rank High In Google
Google AdWords
By paying a small fee AdWords can place your website at the top of the rankings in the ’sponsored links’ section of Google.
How it works: You bid on keywords that represent your target markets searches. Keyword bidding means you pay anywhere from 5 cents through to $100 for each time someone clicks on your little ad. The beauty of this system is that you determine how much to bid for each keyword and you can cap the your daily limit.
Using Pay-per-click advertising is an excellent way to bring in traffic and ‘test’ your website to see if its working to convert sales.
Using Google Adwords to Drive Traffic To Your Site
Not only can you get traffic to your site within 10 mintues of finishing your website, you can get high quality traffic that’s searching for the exact keywords you are targeting. Obviously, you pay for this service everytime someone clicks on your ad, but the advantage is you are able to get top rankings in Google instantly – depending on your keywords and you can see exactly what your customers like and dislike about your site.
Taking a proactive approach to editing your site while you are using Google Adwords will help you create a website that appeals to customers who will ultimately come back and purchase from you.
With Adwords be aware that you pay different prices for different keywords. For example. Casino is a very popular keyword and as a result you would have to pay around $15+ each time someone clicks on your sponsored Ad. But, don’t be disheartened. If you do your research you can find some great keywords at around 10 cents per click and those clicks can translate into purchases if you sell a product worth $19.95+.
So take the time to discover good keywords using a good keyword searching tool like Wordtracker and use Google AdWords to let you know how much each word will cost.
