Keyword SEO
Keyword’s are the lifeblood of your online home business success. Select words to use on each page and in your articles that really target your customers. Then they will find you online in the search engines.
Keyword SEO are the terms and phases that are typed into the search engines by an information seeking internet user. For example, the keyword used here is ‘Firefox’
So what do you sell or promote?
I’m sure it fits into a general category such as ‘golf’ or ‘dog food’. But drill right down into smaller niche areas like ‘golf swing’, ‘putting’ and so on… Write down as many keywords you can think of in your category…. Next, go to one of the search tools below to find if there is a market for your keyword. Is there a lot of competition for your keyword? I suggest that you do not become too attached to your keywords. Some work while others will be too competitive and you’ll get lost in the millions of pages for that particular keyword.
The whole point of finding good keywords it to develop your website content around those words. Put them in the Title Tags, in the example above, My firefox information, also in the meta description tags, My firefox information last updated…, and of course, the page itself. The richer your content and the more relevant it is to the user searching for that term the higher the likelihood your site will be viewed by the user.
Free Keyword Search Tools:
www.overture.com/inventory – Yahoo’s Keyword Service gives a list of related words and an outline of how many times that phrase has been searched
www.nichebot.com – Gives a more accurate outcome for your particular keywords and more statistics to test the result
These tools allow you to find out how many people search for your particular keywords within a monthly period. Overture is a yahoo company, so multiply the result by 8-10 to give you a more accurate estimate of the total number of searches that would be conducted in both Google and Yahoo.
Using the Overture tool is important to make sure that you find the keywords that don’t have a HUGE number of searches like ‘Golf’ and find a keyword that has a high number of searches, but with a low number of related sites.
For example:
Good keyword
‘Improve golf swing’ – 70,463 searches – 260,000 pages
Bad keyword
‘Golf’ – 152,046 searches– 3,504, 990 pages
There are far too many pages competing for the same term. It’s much better to focus on the term with less competition but still relevant to your site. It’s good to have a mix of both high search result keywords and low result keyword, because you may be high in one keyword but low in another.
