Website Conversion
Converting Your Traffic To Sales
Remove pictures, change the layout of your site and you can still sell. But, take away words and you won’t sell anything. Master your keywords and writing abilities to generate more sales then start web conversion, testing, testing, testing.
While considered one of the most challenging parts of Internet Marketing, turning your traffic into buying customers is the most rewarding and priority number one for the savvy internet business owner. There are many ways to generate lots of traffic to your site – viral marketing, affiliate programs, ezine articles and links. But, if you don’t have even a basic conversion rate of sales, there is little point spending thousands on your marketing strategy if your target market doesn’t like what they see.
The ability to convert that traffic to sales is nothing more than having a good system in place. Starting small and learning from mistakes quickly.

Plan To Win!
- Research the latest strategies
- Formulate a new strategy yourself (high risk) or adopt one that has worked (low risk)
- Test the strategy against previous results
- Apply the strategy to your website and measure the result
- If the result is favourable – Keep it! Use it over and over again, in moderation
In the beginning converting sales may seem like a wild creature impossible to tame, but rather than take a scatter gun approach to your marketing, apply a well designed system that allows you to strategize, test and measure. Change to new and improved strategies, this will always win in the medium to long term.

Strategies + Testing + Measuring = Profitable Strategy |
The key to getting higher conversions is getting QUALITY traffic. That means targetting traffic that is looking for exactly what you are selling, not traffic that is looking for widgets while you are selling digital cameras. You need to build your site for your market otherwise they will simply click away, and you’ve just paid for that useless visit if you are using Pay Per Click!
The first steps to creating a web page are always research your keywords, create your website, add your product and finish it to the best of your ability using all the resources you have at your disposal. Then look around and find out what others did to succeed, how they did it and how you can too. Below is a list of the areas you should focus your attention on perfecting.
Your objective is to get each measure completed in the ‘first draft’ of your website as you will always need to ‘tweak’ it in the future. As your keywords change so too do your customers.
Important parts of your site to test and measure:
- Sales Copy – Long copy sells much better then short copy regardless of how good it is
- Website Content – Your facts, figures and general information need to be written for your market
- Site Layout – Make sure that you aren’t using a pink background to sell monster trucks – not good
- Ordering Pages – Make sure that you test different types of pages
- Bonuses - Make sure your bonuses are relevant and your customers actually want them
- Headlines – Your headline is more important than the rest of you sales copy. Make sure it works
- Position of opt-in email – You need it where your traffic can see it
- Product Price – You don’t set the price, your market does, test the price to maximize profits
- Guarantee – Wording and how many days you offer money back is important
- Newsetter Frequency – How often do you send out emails to your client list? Don’t overload them
- Offers – Make sure that your offers are exactly what your customers want
Being able to convert traffic is the key to success. The reality is you don’t know who or why your customer has shown up on your website. But if you apply the strategy, test and measure rule you will soon find out why they are there, what they like, don’t like and when they like to buy.
The number one way to turn traffic into sales is by changing your words. Both keywords and website content. Learn that! Then you can make a lot of money online.
