What are online affiliate programs? This site is an affiliate site. After using these tools and courses I decided to write about there purpose. This site presents a range of goods and services, some I’m paid for promoting, others I’m not.  If you click and purchase from one of my recommended links, I receive a small amount for creating this page and exposing you to it in the first place. While it’s not everyone’s ideal to be an affiliate marketer, it’s always a great way to earn extra income if you promote a product you believe is of exceptional value.

How you make money from online affiliate programs

1. Sign up to the affiliate program of your choice and set up the link on your website
2. Drive traffic to your website and have customers click on the link and purchase
3. Receive a commission from the program owners

There are literally millions of online businesses out there running affiliate programs.  It is one of the easiest businesses to set up (says he who owns one) as they only require a computer, your writing skills and management software.   Don’t be scared off if you know nothing.  Once you sign up to a program, many program owners provide excellent support.

Many businesses develop affiliate programs, because they need people like you and me to promote them.  We are effectively sales people for these companies, but the brilliant thing is we don’t cold call or even need to leave the home to make a sale.

Affiliate marketing is a huge industry with many, many players.  Therefore it’s important to pick your programs and mentors wisely.  Be sure to learn from people who have had great success in the industry.  Research different affiliate website owners, webmasters, in your industry.  There will be many.

There are several ways to become an affiliate marketer:

• Signing up for a few affiliate programs that relate to your industry – this adds another income stream to your existing business.  You don’t to need to do it full time, but if you add a few links to your existing website and your customer buys from that link you get paid.

• Create a website dedicated to affiliate marketing – find a niche market with a huge number of customers, research your keywords thoroughly and create a website that is dedicated to providing content rich information that promotes your affiliate programs

• Promote your affiliate programs offline -  If your business isn’t online in a big way, don’t be deterred. I have promoted some excellent products and services to my friends, clients and associates.  Some have paid me $500 for a single sale and for helping someone else out!  A great win-win outcome.

I read many books, listened to many CD’s and watched many DVD’s when I started.  I was a sponge and soaked everything up.  I have to admit though there is a lot of useless information out there.  Of the hundreds of resources I have access to, I only re-visit two of them frequently.
